Congregation Kona Beth Shalom announces Annual community Passover seder

The Jewish holiday of Passover begins at sundown on Wednesday, April 5 this year – a celebration of freedom that marks the Exodus of the ancient Israelites from bondage and oppression by the Egyptian Pharaoh. Congregation Kona Beth Shalom will hold its Annual Community Passover Seder on April 5th at the Maka`eo Events Pavilion in Kona Old Airport Park, starting at 5:30 pm. Dr. Barry Blum, president of the congregation, will conduct the seder

which will be followed by a festive meal with traditional foods including meat or

vegetarian options. Costs for non-members of KBS: $95/seat for adults, half-price

Words And Wine to be held April 4

Words and Wine is where local or traveling authors come to “Talk Story” at Kona Stories Book Store on April 4, 2023 @6PM. This literary favorite continues at Kona Stories book store, located in the Historical Keauhou Shopping Center, as three local or traveling authors talk about their recently published books. Kona Stories will serve light pupu and beverages during this event and everyone is welcome to join – best of all this is a free community event. Authors speaking in April are: Gloria Itman Blum who will present her new children’s book Tutu’s Secret, a poetic story about healing and life in the Hawaiian setting.

Yuko Green is an illustrator and author of children’s books, who has resided on the Big Island of Hawai’i since 1987. Yuko has illustrated and/or written more than thirty-five children’s books and many children’s activity books, with Hawaiian themes including Tutu’s Secret. In this true-life Julie and Julia meets Notorious RBG mash-up, former attorney Leslie Karst recounts how finagling her way into hosting an intimate dinner party for Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg sends her on a journey of culinary discovery—and, ultimately, completely changes her life.
